Life Insurance for Ohio Homeowners

February 10, 2025 · 5 min read

Buying a home is often the moment life insurance stops being optional. A 30 year mortgage is a 30 year promise, and if something happens to the primary earner, the family should not have to sell the house to keep up.

The simplest approach is a level term policy sized to at least cover the mortgage, with a term length that matches or slightly exceeds the loan. Many Ohio homeowners pair a 30 year policy for the mortgage with a smaller 20 year policy tied to the kids being at home.

If you refinanced recently or added a HELOC, revisit your coverage. A policy that was right in 2019 may not fit in 2025.

Coverage is inexpensive relative to what it protects, and most homeowners can lock in a policy in a single short conversation with a licensed Ohio agent.
